Pengertian SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE beserta jenis jenis dan contohnya dalam bahasa inggris.



SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE



S + will/shall + V1
 
 


Or
S + is/am/are + going to + V1
 
 


Will or be going to is used to express future time. Examples :
1.   She will finish he duty tomorrow.
  1. I am going to go to Europe next year.

Ø  Will Vs Be Going To

·      To express a prediction is used will or be going to. When the speaker is making a prediction (a statement about something she/he thinks will be true in the future), either will or be going to is possible. Example :
Be careful! You’ll hurt yourself!

·      To express a prior plan only use be going to.Example :
He is going to buy a car.

·      To express willingness and answer the phone use will. Examples :
  1. A : The phone’s ringing.
B : I will get it.
  1. A : I don’t understand about it.
B : Ask your teacher about it. She’ll help you.





FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE

S + will/shall + be + V-ing
 
 


Or

S + is/am/are + going to + be + V-ing
 
 


Application :

1.      The future continuous expresses an activity that will be in progress at a time in the future . Examples :
a.       Football begins at 5.30 and ends at 9.15.
Tom will be watching the match at 8.30.
b.      Don’t call me at nine because I won’t be home.
I am going to be studying at the library.

1.   Sometimes there is little or no difference between The Future Continuous and The Simple Future, especially when the future event will occur at an indefinite time in the future. Examples :
a.       Don’t get impatient.
She will be coming soon.
b.      Don’t get impatient.
She will come soon.

  

FUTURE PERFECT TENSE



S + will/shall + have +V3
 
 



Application :

1.      The Future Perfect expresses an activity that will be completed before another time or event in the future.
Examples :
a.       By the time we come home, the boys will have finished their homework.
b.      I can lend you the book next week because by that time I will have finished reading it.
c.       By the end of this week, I will have been back from Malaysia.

( Note : by the time introduces a time clause; The Simple Present  is used in a time clause.)


FUTURE PERFECT
CONTINUOUS TENSE



S + will/shall + have + been + V-ing
 
 



Application :

1.      The Future Perfect Continuous emphasizes the duration of an activity that will be in progress before another time or event in the future. Example:
a.       I will go to bed at 10 pm.
He will get home at midnight.
At midnight I will be sleeping.
I will have been sleeping for two hours by the time he gets home.
2.      Sometimes The Future Perfect and The Future Perfect Continuous give the same meaning.
(Notice that the activity expresses by either of these two tenses may begin in the past). Examples:
a.       When Professor Johnson retires next month, he will have taught for 45 years.
b.      When Professor Johnson retires next month, he will have been teaching for 45 years.


PAST FUTURE TENSE

This tense is usually used in Conditional or Reported Speech.


S + should/would + Infinitive
 
 



Examples:
a.       If I were you I should marry her. (Conditional)
b.      He said that he would go abroad this week. (Reported Speech)

Negative sentences is made by add “not” after “should/would” and interrogative sentences by move “should/would” in front of sentence.

Examples:
a.       If I were you I should not marry her.
b.      He said that he wouldn’t attend the party that night.
c.       Would you marry that women if you were rich?


Note: Sentences such as:
Ø  Would you help me?
Ø  Would you come in, please.
Although the pattern same with interrogative sentence, but it isn’t Past Future.

  

PAST FUTURE
CONTINUOUS TENSE

This tense is seldom used in a sentence and we only meet them in Reported Speech.


S + should/would be + V-ing
 
 



Example :

a.       They told us that they would be having dinner when we visited them that night.

Negative and Interrogative pattern of this tense same with Past Future Tense.



PAST FUTURE
PERFECT TENSE


This tense is used in Conditional as main clause to expresses unreal past.



S + should/would have + Past Participle
 
 



Examples:
Ø  You would have met a lot of friends if you attended the party last night.
Meaning:You didn’t meet your friends because you didn’t attend in the party last night.

Ø  If it hadn’t rained we should have gone to the beach yesterday.
Meaning:We didn’t go to the beach because it rained yesterday.


PAST FUTURE PERFECT
CONTINUOUS TENSE


This tense is seldom used, moreover in Reported Speech.



S + should/would have been + V-ing
 
 



Examples:
Ø  She expected that her baby would have been sleeping for hours when she arrived home.
Ø  He thought that I would have been studying for two hours when he watched television.

Negative and Interrogative pattern of this tense same with Past Future Tense
